procrastination

Just a few random things I learned this year teaching college:

• When you sit at your desk a lot, you have lots of time to drink coffee. Lots of coffee.
• The weakest students take up a lot of your time. Easily three times as much as lower-maintenance students.
• Don't schedule a 5-page paper due four days before the 5-page essay final is due for your 27 students. Also, don't have all other late assignments and 5-page journals from observations due the same time as the final.
  
• Don't blog when you should be reading and grading those 50+ 5-page papers instead.
